My Dogs and I

I miss my babies (the doggies) so so much! Its more unbearable to be away from them than from home. When I miss my parents or siblings they are just a phone call away. As for my babies, Qbi, Kobe and Barbie, you can't see their reaction even when you scream or squeal or make weird noises just to get their attention. Some of you think its stupid to talk to dogs on the phone right!?! If you think about it, it is the same as talking to a baby on the phone! But you still do it don't you! Don't try to deny it~ I know you do LOL!

People who doesn't know Qbi, Kobe and Barbie, here are some pictures of them. I love looking at their pictures time and again (feel like an old lady when I do that), their growth and changes over the years never fail to put a smile on my face. Love them to bits!!

She loves to pose when she was a puppy. Qbi always have a way of making herself look elegant.  A weird description for a shetland right! Hahaha Even when she walks, her butt sways from left to right, super cute. Whenever I bring her out for walks, many people would mistake her for a cat as she looks similar to a boston cat from the back.

She happily walked into the cupboard when I opened the doors! All I did was ask her to stay and took a picture of it wahahaha! She was slightly less than a year old when this photo was taken. Feel like snuggling her right now!!!

Somehow a meat lump grew on her face. @.@ You have no idea how sad I was looking at her like this. I brought her to the vet 3 times and they kept convincing me that the lump will dry and fall off by itself.

It was a very hot and sunny day, her thick beautiful coat made the temperature even more unbearable for her. So she ended up resting under the water taps, cooling herself off in the small puddle of water.

When I came to Melbourne, the realization that I will be away from her for almost 1/3 of her life made me cry. Given a choice, I want to share everyday of my life with her. Qbi is so brilliant and sweet, she rarely breaks any rules around the house.

This picture was taken 1 or 2 days after we brought him home. He has beautiful markings doesn't he. Kobe boy is super smart! He is a fast learner and tends to be very cautious towards things or people he is not familiar with. Luckily, we have Barbie around to give him assurance and courage because she is absolutely different from Kobe. 

Since he was a puppy, everytime he pee or poo on the synthetic grass tray, we will give him praises. Kobe enjoys the affection so much, sometimes he will walk onto the grass patch and jump off it or try to force out 2 drops of pee, assuming that we will praise him and let him come out from the play pen. 

In this picture he was around half a year old. 

We had to put them in a pet hotel for 2 months during school holidays. When the carer emailed us a picture of them (not shown here), we were shocked!! Kobe was loosing his dark patches. So we had to email the carer, stating "Are you sure this is our dog?!? Was there a mix up?!?!" Although we recognized Kobe's eyes from the picture, it was still very hard to believe.

It was difficult to bring them to a groomer in Melbourne without a car. Which is why I had to constantly trim the fur around his paws and eyes. Since we were going to bring him back to Singapore in a few weeks time, we let his coat grow and got a professional groomer to perfect his look instead. 

Barbie

Breed: Cavalier x Toy Poodle

Sex: Female

2 months old 

Barbie was brought home a few days later than Kobe. It was important for us that both of them grew up together so as to form a strong bond. When we were bringing Barbie home in a cab, they were growling and fighting. I was so afraid Kobe and Barbie would not get along with each other. Later on, we found out that they are the perfect match. 

Qbi was my first dog, I learnt alot from her. It is always important to have more than one dog. They need company from their own species too. You can see the difference in character and temperament between a dog who lives alone and a dog who has another dog to play with. A dog with another companion is much happier, more energetic and lively. Plus its super cute when you see them snuggling together.

This was how Barbie looked like a few weeks prior to flying back to Singapore. At least she doesn't look as bad as Kobe boy! LOL LOL

Like I said earlier, Barbie is the exact opposite of Kobe. She is blur, fearless and cute. Barbie does not always pee where she should. If you don't bring her to the synthetic grass patch to pee every few hours, she will collect it in her bladder and finally wet the carpet when she can no longer hold it in. Her super long legs make her an extremely fast SPRINTER. One moment she is next to you and before you realise it, she is already zooming half way across the house, knocking into walls and doors. Barbie is a dare devil, the only thing that intimidates her just a little, are balloons hahaha.

Over here she is advertising for Wee-Wee Diapers. Was planning to use it while bringing her out in the car. Just in case. Its Barbie, she never fails to surprise us.

We had a small Easter Party on Easter Day. All of us had to wear something "animal" on ourselves. Barbie and Kobe were dressed up too!

NOTHING we do manage to disturb her sleep even a LITTLE. Although Barbie always break house rules, its difficult to get angry at her. She does stupid things and give you the "Huh What did I do" expression all the time. Its hilarious. She is like the baby of the pack.

When I have had a bad day in school, coming home to them makes me feel so much better.

Cake Boss - Carlo's Bake Shop

Promised a post on "Cake Boss'! This post is easy, all I have to do is post a dozen pictures and you people judge for yourself. If I were to judge, I'd say they make the most INSANE cakes!

Oki let me give you guys an idea of who they are. Carlo's Bake Shop is a family orientated business owned by Buddy Valastro. Buddy learnt the techniques and tricks from his father, who in turn learnt his skills from his father. Count how many generations that is. Today, Buddy is one of the most successful cake artist in United States. The bakery is packed with his mother, four older sisters, three brothers-in-laws and the rest of the crew. They are a very vocal family, tons of screaming and shouting. Despite all these, you can see their love for each other, their passion, determination and drive for what they do.

Roulette Cake:

People who loves the Casino would simply adore this!!! They included chips as well, ain't you fascinated?! There's more! The roulette wheel really spins! The cake is created using pound cake, fondant, modelling chocolate and gum paste. They are all edible, even the roulette wheel! How awesome is that!

Mammal Cake:

This cake was designed and made for The American Museum of National History for the opening of their "Extreme Mammals" exhibit. The Indricotherium (that mammal that looks like a rhino) is edible too!

Dragon Cake:

What does it remind you of? Dragon Boat! The Metro Athletics Dragon Boat Team (MAD) ordered this cake for their 2009 racing season.

Leaning Tower of Pisa Cake:

Wedding Cake. How original is this! Somehow it feels even more romantic than the typical wedding cake designs.

Grucci Fireworks Cake:

Donna Grucci and Felix Grucci Jr. of Grucci Fireworks ordered a cake for the Grucci patriarch's birthday memorial. Look at the size and the details in this cake. Its INSANE right!! Tell me one bakery in Singapore that can make cakes CLOSE to this. 

Fire Truck Cake:

The Harrison Fire Department requested a cake as a thank you gift for the retired firefighters at he NJ Firemen's Retirement Home. The cake had working lights, siren and smoke created from water vapor. Crazy isn't it!! Its feels more like a toy than a cake. LOL

Wedding Cake with Birds:

A vintage wedding cake. Do you see the transparent cage near the bottom of the cake. Two white doves will be placed into the cage just before the wedding. During the wedding ceremony, the love couple will release the doves from the enclosure. Aw.... so beautiful. Once again, everything on this cake (except for the cage) is edible.

Race Car Cake:

The Retail Bakers Association of America (RBA) requested a cake for the annual American Retail Bakery Exposition in Charlotte, N.C. This is the largest cake Buddy and his crew has ever made. Can you see the two tiny head near the back of the car. Those are real human ok, not figurines!! Look how big the cake is! You can drive in it. 

Aquarium Cake:

The Adventure Aquarium in Camden, N.J., requested a cake for their fifth birthday celebration. So Buddy and his crew got creative. They made a hammerhead shark, a tiger shark, a sea turtle and a stingray along with many coral fishes such as clown fish. Even the corals are edible. This cake looks so beautiful, how will anyone bear to eat it! Two large aquariums are incorporated at the back of the cake with live salt water fish swimming in it. This is not a cake, its art. Wish I could find a close up picture of this cake. You should look at the details on it. Definitely my all time favourite!

Altamura Wedding Cake:

Another Wedding Cake that I absolutely adores! This is a seven tier cake made of vanilla sponge cake, buttercream, white fondant, and royal icing. Buddy is so skilled and talented! Cake piping is one of the most difficult skill to master in cake art. Look at the amount of details on this cake. How I wish it is MINE!!!

Wedding Cake:

A six tiered piped wedding cake for Bride's Magazine Cake. Exhibits Buddy's extraordinary piping skills. If he was careless and make just one mistake with the royal icing, he will have to redo the cake all over again. Thats how challenging this cake is.

How adorable is this!!! Think I will go ecstatic if I receive such a cake for my birthday!! Girls, You have the same wish as me don't you!

As you can see, the list goes on and on and on. He makes fantastic cakes! I wish there are good quality pictures to show you guys the full extent of their attention to details. So if you people plan to go to New Jersey for a holiday, remember to go to Carlo's Cake Shop! Their customers claim the cakes and pastries taste heavenly.

Animal Abuse

A little piece of me die inside each time I see poor animals being abused. This year I have seen so many cruel acts by horrible horrible human beings. Yesterday I was watching "ASPCA", one case upset me so much, I just teared and felt so ashamed of the human race. This will be a long post, but please spare me some time as it is going to be one of the most meaningful post I will ever write on my blog.

Cold Blooded Murder:

A family in Los Angeles owns two beautiful white dogs. They have features similar to an American Eskimo or a Japanese Spitz. In the documentary, there were videos of the two dogs running around the house, playing with the family's young daughter and the three of them huddling together to take a nap.


One day, the owner found one of her dogs lying on the porch covered with blood. She thought it was a hit and run accident and immediately brought her dog to the vet. Upon further inspection, the vet found evidence of a gun shot wound in its chest. When the owner told the vet her second dog is still missing, the vet informed her that, if both dogs are in similar condition, the missing dog will not be able to make it without immediate medical attention.

The ASPCA was informed and half a year later, the culprit was caught. Here is the full story. 

A young man lured his neighbor's two dogs into his estate and started shooting one of them. They manage to get away. The wounded dog ran back home, that's where the owner found and rescued it. The second dog, being trusting as dogs usually are, headed back to the shooter's house. This time, the shooter brought it into his house and shot the dog in between its eyes. When he realised the dog was still breathing, he took a samurai sword and slit its throat. Once he was sure the dog was dead, the body was bagged into a rubbish bag and thrown away like trash.

As for the dog that survived, one of its front leg had to be amputated. 

After watching the documentary, so many questions pop into mind. Why did he have to go through the trouble of luring the dogs into his house? What did the dogs do to deserve such horrible treatment? What does he hope to achieve by killing them? Why can he be so cold blooded? How can a full grown man bring himself to hurt such fun, adorable animals?

This abuse reminded me of several other cases that have been circulating in facebook.

The latest frenzy is about two idiots hanging a puppy by its neck. Does the dog look dead to you? Is there no spark left in its eyes or am I imagining it? 

Please help to identify them!

They might be your next door neighbour, your classmate or even your son. Each person should be responsible for what they do. If you know them, do the right thing, notify the relevant officials. Look at them, they are just boys. If they can get away with torturing and killing a dog at this age, who knows what they are capable of when they become full grown man.

Newborn Puppies Thrown Into River:

All of you should know the infamous 19 years old Bosnian girl who threw a bucket of newborn puppies into the river. 

Many of you will be glad to know that she has been caught!! Wait, don't start cheering just yet. Under Bosnian law, a person who kill or torture animals is punishable only with fines ranging from 15 to 5,000 euros. My reaction to this was "What?!?!?!?! You mean as long as I am rich I can kill or torture as many animals as I want." What kind of punishment is that?!? 


There was a controversy stating that her neighbor saved five out of the six puppies thrown into the river. Some claims that its absolute crap, some says its a miracle. Well, the truth will never be known, unless a DNA test is taken from the 'surviving' puppies and compared to the mother dog that red riding hood have at her house. So since that can't be done by us, keep debating guys.

Woman Dumping Kitten In Bin:
Lola, a four year old cat was found in the wheelie bin by her owner Darryl and Stephanie Mann, at their Conventry home. Darryl had been going out to his car in the morning when he heard her meowing. At first, he thought she was under the car but was surprised to find her in the bin. He checked his CCTV to see how Lola had ended up where she was. If you have  not already seen this video. Check it out for yourself:

The grey haired woman was seen petting the cat, gaining its trust. Then, she scanned the area to make sure no one was watching (Too Bad You Missed The CCTV!). The next thing you know, she dumped the cat into the wheelie bin and closed the lid. The poor kitty was trapped in that confined space for 15 hours. Imagine what might have happened to her if Darryl had not found her in time. Why did she do that?!?!?! If you don't like cats, continue walking and ignore it! Just in case you are wondering; Yes!! That old woman has been caught! Hopefully she gets more than just a fine.


Bali Dog Culling:
If you have a weak heart, do not watch this.

"Bali’s dogs are dying. The island’s authorities, in a kneejerk reaction to six suspected human rabies fatalities, are culling dogs. But over 90 per cent of the island’s dogs are owned and roam freely, meaning the majority of the animals being killed are healthy, loved pets." wpsa 

Dogs are poisoned by strychnine. It leaves the animals conscious throughout the convulsions that end in suffocation. Watching the helpless dogs run away from their pursuers, their fear and confusion when their bodies starts seizing, their last effort to continuing running even thou they can no longer bend their hind legs. The suffering is acute. Its painful to watch. 

All of these animals suffered or died because of human actions.

We are the ones who cause them pain and sufferings, we are also the ones who are able to protect and save them. If you ever see someone abusing an animal, call the relevant authority IMMEDIATELY! Animals need our help. You can do something about it. 

My Lil Bro's Bday

Friends who have studied with me in the past would know I am not one who loiters around after school. Many of my them wonder why I am always in such a rush. Well, I am just a girl who likes to stay home, will always try to get home as fast as possible. I know there are many people who have this group of buddies and they will wait for one another to finish their classes just to go home together. Which doesn't make sense to me... Firstly, its not like you guys are next door neighbors... Secondly, why would you want to wait for an hour or 2 or maybe even longer just to take the train/bus together?!?!?! If you go home alone, you would have reached home... bathed... might even have eaten by then. So, if you need a train/bus buddy, DO NOT LOOK FOR ME, cause 99% of the time I will not be there waiting. 

Everyone has their own priorities, such as families, careers, friends, money. There is no right or wrong in which ever you think is most important. The thing I care about most will definitely be my family. They always come first, no matter what. It is also this strong sense of belonging that lead to this post. 

I hate being away from home and 3 years is a really long time for me. Missing all the family events, everyone's birthday, their joys and sorrows. Its depressing just thinking about it. Towards my little brother, I have a sense of guilt. He always misses out on things that children should have such as birthday party, christmas tree, christmas stocking, nicely wrapped christmas present and the list goes on. As he gets older, there might not be any childhood memory worth remembering. Year after year I wish I am there to help organise  a party, decorate a christmas tree and fill the foot of the tree with tons of presents. Make sure he does not miss out on what other children have. It pains me when another kid has this fascinating toy and he/she doesn't want to share it with my lil bro. 

This year, my little brother told my mom that he wants a birthday party (Yes... its sad that he has to ask before we organise one for him). Of course, she said Yes! He deserves it! My brother might not be the smartest boy in class or a role model for other children, sometimes he might even be a pain in the ass but he is one of the sweetest brother a sister can ever have. Love him to bits!!

Mommy asked me to design a simple invitation card. This task is not simple at all because my brother is a person who is quite hard to please. I also had to ensure that the design is suitable for both male and female, PLUS the card cannot be one that causes his classmates to tease him. I was thinking about it and the word Hamster pop into my mind. My lil bro loves hammies but mommy don't allow him to have any because there are already 3 doggies at home LOL!

It was a huge relieve when Lun Lun said he likes it. *Phew* I proceed to printing it on super glossy paper, cutting them out and sending them back to Singapore. Next, I thought about his birthday cake. Since this is his first birthday party, I want him to have a fancy cake. Below is a picture of what I ordered for him online. 3D cakes are becoming such a hit all over the world right now. Some of you might have watched the TV program "Cake Boss", their cakes are soooooooooooooo awesome! Wish there is someone in Singapore who can do such wonderful cakes! Shall blog about it some other time.

This cake is called the Space Shuttle from "The Patissier". Unlike other kids, my brother does not like Ben10 or Dinosaurs or Cars. Yes... He is hard to please. This design suits him best. When I called him to ask whether he likes space craft for his bday cake, he said he doesn't want a UFO lol lol! I explained to him that its a space shuttle not a UFO, his reply to me was "then, its ok".  Maybe its in our genes.... its difficult to get us excited about anything.

Lastly, I searched for entertainment such as clown, face painters and balloon decorators. As usual, he said no to all my suggestions. Which is fine with me, as long as he is happy, I am happy.

Enough is Enough!!

I have kept quiet for so long cause I know its NONE of my BUSINESS but I don't understand why someone would want to torture himself like that?!?!?! Can't stand it anymore!

When you hear about incidents where a girlfriend betrays the trust and love of her boyfriend to cosy up with another guy, you can't help but pity and sympathize with the bf. I do not want to elaborate on what happened (its someone else's privacy)  but you guys should have an idea of whats happening. So.. what many people wondered was what will he do next?
(A) demand her to break it off with the other guy
(B) Dumb her because he can no longer trust her and realise she is just not worth it

Instead he surprises us by choosing Option C
(C) Shower her with even more love and affection to 'win' her heart back

Option C would be more ideal when you have CHILDREN to consider about or you guys are MARRIED for over a decade. Sometimes it might even work for gfs and bfs but you should be able to see the result almost instantly. If she is still non-responsive after a few months obviously your tactic is NOT WORKING!

Its time to WAKE UP! Where is your pride and dignity? Be A Man! You are a nice guy, it would be easy for you to find a decent girl. She is not the only tree in the forest, so why would you want to torture yourself now and continue the misery for the rest of your life? If she truly love you, why would she put you through this ordeal. She did it once, she can do it again. You deserve better. Get the picture
